The story starts below

When Cora heard about her daughter surprising her with business class plane tickets, she was very excited.
She had never flown before and knew this would take away a bit of her anxiety. But nothing could have prepared her for what was about to happen on the plane.
Because just as the plane was filling up with passengers, one of the flight attendants walked over to Cora and bluntly asked her to leave.
That was something she later regretted deeply…
Telling her to leave

Cora confusedly looked up at the flight attendant. She thought she had misheard her at first, but when she asked again, Cora could clearly hear what the flight attendant was telling her.
“Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” She didn’t even ask to see Cora’s boarding pass…
Making her feel unworthy

Cora’s heart began to race as she looked around her in confusion. No one seemed to care about how the flight attendant was speaking to her.
It was degrading, to say the least, and it made her feel like she was unworthy of being here. “But I paid for this seat?”
White as a ghost

The flight attendant didn’t want to listen to anything Cora was saying. She eventually managed to give her passport to another flight attendant, who was luckily willing to double-check Cora’s booking. The flight attendant returned as white as a ghost, showing her colleagues the inside of Cora’s passport…
But why was Cora refused in business class? What did the flight attendant do? And why did they turn pale?
Cora

Cora was on her way to visit her daughter, who had just given birth. She had never flown before, but she desperately wanted to meet her grandchild.
Cora’s daughter, Violet, knew how anxious her mother was about flying for the first time, so she surprised her with a business-class ticket.
Happy with business class

Because of this upgrade, Core was a bit more excited than anxious about flying. She knew she would be well-taken care of and figured the staff would be a bit nicer to her if she were to get really scared. But nothing could have prepared her for how the staff was actually going to treat her…
Treated like a VIP

On the day of her travel, Cora made sure to double-check everything. After making sure she had her passport, plane ticket, and luggage ready, she hopped in a taxi and drove to the airport.
When she arrived, she realized Violet had arranged another surprise for her. She was taken to the VIP section.
Waiting in the lounge

Cora felt like the queen. All she had to do was give her passport and luggage to the staff, and they took care of everything.
She was brought to a lounge where she could wait for the boarding to begin while she relaxed on the couch or drank a glass of wine at the bar.
Stepping on board

After being treated so royally the whole day, she expected the same treatment on the plane. She had a ticket for a business class seat, after all.
So when it was time to board the plane, Cora happily stepped into the car, which took her to the plane, and stepped on board without second thoughts.
Confused looks

The staff seemed a bit confused when Cora was one of the first people to step on board the plane. Usually, it would probably be wealthy people, like the one man that stepped on the plane before Cora, so she wasn’t surprised by the confused looks.
She just figured it was unlike they had ever seen before.
Talking about her

But it soon became clear to Cora that there could be more to it. As she sat down in her seat, she saw two flight attendants whispering in a corner.
They were clearly whispering about Cora, as they kept looking in her direction and weren’t exactly trying to hide it.
Trying to ignore it

Cora tried to ignore it by grabbing the magazine in front of her and flipping through the pages. She forgot about the flight attendants as the plane slowly filled with other passengers, but was quickly brought back to reality when they offered everyone in business class a glass of water, except for her.
Walking toward her

The plane was now almost completely filled with passengers; Cora could see there were only like six people left in line to be let in.
She put the magazine away to mentally prepare herself for take off when suddenly, one of the flight attendants walked toward her with a confident strut.
The plane was quiet

“I swear it was right here,” Cora said, confused. But the flight attendant impatiently tapped her foot on the ground.
She stood there, arms crossed, looking down at Cora, who was on the verge of tears. The plane had suddenly gotten eerily quiet, and everyone was trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.
Pleading with the flight attendant

“Ma’am, you’re holding up the plane. Either you go now, willingly, or we’ll have to call the police,”
the flight attendant suddenly demanded. “Please, let me call my daughter, she was the one who booked this seat.
Please let me try to make this right, I paid for this seat!” Cora tried to plead with her, but nothing seemed to work.
No one helped

Cora looked around her with tears in her eyes. Everyone was aware of what was happening, but no one stepped in to help.
Not even the other flight attendants. Cora felt helpless. This was nothing like she imagined the plane ride would be.
How will she ever get out of this situation?
Not knowing what to do

“Ma’am?” the flight attendant asked again. Her tone became more annoyed each time she had to speak to Cora. Cora didn’t know what to do.
If she were to get off this plane, would she be able to get on the next one? And why would she even oblige?
She was a hundred percent certain she was in the right seat.
Clora made up her mind

Suddenly, she made up her mind. She wasn’t going to leave this plane, she was going to find her boarding pass and prove that girl wrong.
She looked through her bag again and under her seat. She looked into the seat pocket in front of her where she put the magazine, but her boarding pass was nowhere to be seen.
Everyone was annoyed

With each passing minute, the flight attendant got more and more annoyed. And she wasn’t the only one.
The other passengers were sighing and groaning in annoyance as well. For as far as they knew, Cora was in the wrong for refusing to leave, and that would soon become very clear.
Acting nice

Cora could only hope the pilot was taking her side. She didn’t know what she would do with one more person out to get her.
When the flight attendant returned, she seemed a bit more cheerful, but Cora could see it was all an act. “
I’m sorry about the inconvenience, ma’am. But I need to see your boarding pass.”
No boarding pass

Cora sighed. This was not how she hoped their conversation would go, but at least it was better than her annoyingly tapping her shoe on the ground.
“I’ve been trying to tell you that I can’t find my boarding pass anywhere,” Cora explained. The flight attendant then turned to the pilot, who shrugged his shoulders in defeat.
“No boarding pass, no flight”

“No boarding pass, no flight,” the flight attendant then said with a smug smile on her face. It was as if she had waited for this moment her whole life.
Cora looked at the pilot with hopeful eyes, but she could see there was nothing more he could do. She sighed. At least he tried…
Her final plea

There was one final thing she could try, and at this point, Cora was ready to try anything. “Please, I got on this plane with my boarding pass.
You have to believe me as there is no other way in. You have to scan it to get through the gates!” She looked at the other flight attendants with tears in her eyes.
Not listening to her

“If you look me up in the system, you will see I’m assigned this seat!” Cora said while reaching her passport out to the flight attendant. “
Please take it and have a look for yourself.” But the flight attendant refused. “Do you even know how long that would take?”
she arrogantly asked. “You have to leave, now.”
Walking to the reception desk

The kind flight attendant stepped off the plane with Cora’s passport. All the other passengers sighed in annoyance as they realized this could set back their departure time.
The kind flight attendant had to walk to the reception desk and ask for them to look up Cora in the system.
The minutes’ ticket by

Cora was relieved the kind flight attendant was willing to check the system for her. She had no idea what she should’ve done if she were to be just as mean as the other one.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she watched the minutes ticking by.
It was almost too much

With each passing minute, Cora heard more and more sighs behind her. She felt her hands getting clammy as she looked at the angry flight attendant, who was looking at Cora as if she was trying to blow her off the plane with her gaze.
It was almost too much for Cora to take.
Making herself feel more comfortable

Cora was trying to make herself feel more at ease. “You have a right to be here. You paid for this seat. You are right.”
she silently said to herself with her eyes closed. But nothing she said took away her anxiety. Suddenly, she heard a few gasps behind her, and she was shocked to see a man angrily walking toward her.
An angry man

The man looked extremely angry and clearly had his sights set on her, as he made direct eye contact with her while stomping in her direction. “Sir?
Sir!” one of the flight attendants yelled as she watched the scare interaction unfold. “What are you still doing here, old lady?
Get the hell off this plane!”
Frightening Cora

His rage was noticeable through his eyes as they were almost popping out of his head. And with every word he screamed, the vein in his neck became thicker and thicker.
Cora had never seen anyone this angry before, and it frightened her to death. Should she just get off this plane?
Not worth it

She realized it wasn’t worth it staying on this plane, and even though she knew she was right and being awfully mistreated here, she decided to take the high road.
So, she slowly began to put her belongings in her purse, like her mobile, and wallet, and confidently stood up.
Packing her things

The whole plane had its attention turned at Cora as she stood there with her head up high. She stepped out of the row of seats and slowly began to gather her things, like her luggage, from the overhead cabin.
As soon as everyone realized what she was going, mixed reactions were heard.
Choosing for safety

Some people sighed in relief, but Cora heard others whisper to each other that she was giving up. And it kind of stung.
Yes, she was giving up, but not because she wanted to. She had to choose for her own safety at this point; she was still a 92-year-old lady, after all.
A smug smile

There was one thing, though, that bugged Cora the most. And that was the smug smile on the mean flight attendant’s face.
It was the smile of someone who thought they had won but secretly cheated in the game. It was the kind of smile that said, “I am better than you.”
Pissing the flight attendant off

Just to piss the mean flight attendant off a little more, Cora walked very, very slowly. She truly embodied being a 92-year-old lady, making grunting noises as she shuffled to the front of the plane.
She wanted everyone to feel sorry for her, but most of all, to feel anger toward the flight attendant for kicking an old lady off.
The kind flight attendant returned

And just when she reached the front of the plane and began to shuffle through the galley, she saw someone running in her direction.
She quickly realized it was the kind flight attendant who went to check the system for her name and seat number!
Because of this, Cora paused and waited.
Back to her seat

But she was proven wrong when the kind flight attendant actually carried her bags back to her seat and placed them in the overhead compartment again.
Cora couldn’t help but smile as she slowly shuffled back to her seat, and thanked the kind flight attendant. “
Did you see my seat number in the system?” she asked.
What was going on?

“Uhm. Excuse me?” the mean flight attendant said with a smudge of attitude. “What do you think you’re doing?”
The kind flight attendant shot a glance at her colleague that spoke volumes. “I want to speak to you in the galley.”
Then, the two flight attendants walked away, leaving Cora in a bit of confusion.
Gathered in the galley

Cora, and everyone else on the flight, watched silently at the flight attendants in the galley. They were all gathered together, and it seemed as if, whatever the kind flight attendant was telling them, was very important.
They all turned pale as she showed them the inside of Cora’s passport.
They turned pale

They all looked at each other in shock, and then at Cora. Cora had no idea why they would be so shocked about her passport, but she figured it could be because they realized how wrong they had treated her.
The flight attendants then quickly informed the pilot about something, and a few minutes later, he announced that the flight would take off shortly.
Not complaining

Cora was stunned. None of the flight attendants gave her an explanation. All the kind flight attendant did was give back her passport and apologize, again.
But Cora didn’t complain. She was just relieved that she was allowed to stay on the plane after all. And it also felt good to be proven right.
Something bothered Cora

Just as the pilot had announced, the plane took off fifteen minutes later. All the passengers were now busy with their own things, and no one looked at Cora anymore.
But there was one thing bothering Cora. The mean flight attendant hadn’t apologized. She hadn’t even looked in her direction after the kind flight attendant spoke to her in the galley.
Telling her daughter

But Cora didn’t really like confrontation, and she had gotten into enough trouble for today. So she kept quiet.
But when her daughter texted her as soon as they landed how her flight had been, Cora couldn’t lie to her.
She explained everything, in detail, and expressed how sad it all made her feel.
Phones were turned on

They were now taxiing to where the plane was supposed to stop, so everyone was allowed to turn their phones on.
Cora could hear everyone’s phone calls explaining why the plane had been delayed so much. “Just an old lady refusing to leave and then being accepted on the flight after all,”
one person said.
Calling her daughter

As soon as Cora’s daughter read the texts her mother had sent her, she called her up. “Mom, what do you mean they refused you on the plane?”
she asked worriedly. Cora felt tears well up in her eyes as she had to think about the ordeal all over again.
Her daughter would fix it

Her voice broke as she explained everything again, but now on the phone. Cora’s daughter could hear the pain in her mother’s voice and felt anger bubbling inside of her.
How could this happen? She told her mother to sit tight, and that she would set everything straight. But how?
Getting ready to deboard

As the plane came to a stop, all the passengers were getting ready to leave. Some stood up and took out their luggage from the overhead compartment, others were on the phone with taxis or loved ones.
But it took a while for the flight attendants to announce the deboarding had started.
Someone was boarding the plane

Suddenly, the pilot announced that the doors would be opened, but that everyone had to sit down again, as someone was boarding the plane.
Sounds of confusion echoed, but the whole flight had been strange to Cora, who wasn’t surprised anymore. “
Could Miss Cora Davidson please come to the galley?”
Cora’s daughter was their boss

“Can you even do that?” Cora quietly whispered to her daughter. “Yes, I can,” she answered. “Because I’m their boss.”
Cora’s eyes grew wide with surprise, and gasps were heard throughout the plane. No one had seen this coming, not even Cora.
But Cora had one more thing to say.
Thanking them

Cora made sure to express how glad she had been with the pilot, who stood up for her twice. And with the kind flight attendant who went to check her seat number in the system.
Sofie gave a rewarding nod to the flight attendant in question and thanked the pilot as well.
Relieved it was all over

Cora was glad to finally feel the ground underneath her again as she walked alongside her daughter to the car.
She was relieved it was all over, but she had to admit that after all of this, she was even more anxious about the flight home.
Sofie felt for her mother, so she made a special arrangement.
How it ended

Sofie surprised her mother with a private plane for her flight back. She wanted to make sure her mother was treated like the queen she was after helping her take care of her newborn daughter for two weeks.
Cora felt very special, and couldn’t thank her daughter enough. She was still a little anxious whenever she set foot on a plane, but that would fade with time—the end.
